Role Overview:

As a pivotal member of our Network Strategy & Planning team, you will take charge of the electricity sub-transmission network planning at AusNet. Your focus will be on accommodating the increasing demand for embedded generators, storage solutions, and large load connections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Planning Leadership: Spearhead the planning activities related to the development of Distribution Renewable Energy Zones (D-REZs) to facilitate the integration of embedded generators, storage, and substantial loads.
  • Comprehensive Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of network capabilities, identifying potential limitations and initiating corrective actions to enhance network security, capacity, and reliability.
  • Strategic Development: Formulate strategies to optimize the utilization of the sub-transmission network, focusing on increasing load and generation connections.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Oversee the compliance of 66kV generators and initiate necessary actions to rectify any non-compliance issues.
  • Investment Planning: Create network investment plans and proposals for both regulated transmission and sub-transmission networks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to fellow engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in the energy sector, particularly within utility environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of electricity network planning and grid connection processes.
  • Familiarity with the National Electricity Rules and their application to network design.
  • Proficiency in electricity network analysis tools and software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
