Job Opportunity: Lead Game Designer

This is a high-level senior position to join our game development team as the Lead Game Designer.

As the Lead Game Designer, you will be responsible for leading and representing the design team within the studio's leadership group. Your responsibilities include ensuring designers' voices are heard and considered in decision-making, fostering a safe, creative, and collaborative team culture.

You will conduct regular 1:1s with designers to check in on their well-being, workload, and growth. You will set clear expectations, responsibilities, and goals for each team member. Additionally, you will provide constructive feedback and coaching to support professional development.

Evaluation of designers' performance will be done fairly and transparently. Alignments will be made with studio expectations, values, and project needs. Underperformance will be addressed with support plans, while recognizing and rewarding excellence.

The Lead Game Designer will also ensure consistent design practices, documentation standards, and workflows. This includes assessing team capacity and skill distribution across projects, partnering with HR/recruiting to hire and onboard new designers effectively, and building succession plans to identify potential future leaders within the team.

Key qualifications for this role include experience as a Lead Game Designer with a background in AA/AAA titles, shipping at least one AA/AAA title in a Lead Game Designer role, and proven experience building and leading teams through full production cycles.
