Job Opportunity: Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology

We are seeking a highly skilled medical practitioner to fill the role of Quinquennial Visiting Medical Officer in our Department of Ophthalmology.

The successful applicant will participate in ophthalmology clinics, perform surgical procedures, supervise registrars and residents, and be involved in education and teaching.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Our department is a multidisciplinary service providing outpatient and inpatient assessment services, ophthalmic surgical services, and community-based chronic care management.

To be successful, you will need to possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) or equivalent.

Key requirements include:

  • Sound clinical knowledge in ophthalmology and glaucoma surgery demonstrated through successful clinical practice.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with research concepts and a commitment to supporting research within the department.
  • Experience in quality assurance activities and evidence-based practice.
  • Commitment to teaching and supervision.
