The Finance team at Garvan Institute of Medical Research plays a crucial role in supporting the strategic and financial objectives of the Institute. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for processing and administering end-to-end payroll activities to ensure all payroll transactions are accurate and timely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and administer payroll activities, including permanent and casual payroll, employee record maintenance, and responding to stakeholders regarding payroll queries.
  • Act as 2IC to the Payroll Manager and assist in preparing payroll reports, reconciliations, and supporting queries.
  • Maintain the payroll system, ensuring it is up-to-date and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Perform PAYG and superannuation processing and reconciliations, as well as maintain parental leave, including Government Paid Parental leave payments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum TAFE Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Payroll Officer function, preferably in a high-volume environment.
  • Understanding of the not-for-profit sector, including salary packaging arrangements, is advantageous.
  • Exposure to Workday and ADP systems is preferable.
  • Highly proficient computer skills and excellent communication skills are essential.
