Senior Payroll Officer Job Description

FourQuarters Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our finance team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and processing end-to-end payroll activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Process and reconcile employee timesheets, commissions, bonuses, and other payroll-related data.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, tax details, and leave balances.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely onboarding and offboarding of employees in the payroll system.
  • Calculate and process superannuation payments and ensure compliance with superannuation legislation.
  • Handle employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and superannuation, providing excellent customer service.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate payroll reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and regulations, ensuring company compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and audits related to payroll as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of payroll system enhancements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Payroll Officer, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, taxation, superannuation, and relevant employment legislation.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software (e.g., ADP, Payglobal or SAP) and MS Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and resolve employee queries.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Relevant qualifications in payroll, accounting, finance, or a related field are desirable.
