Environmental Sustainability Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Advisor to join our Sustainability and External Relations team at Newmont Boddington. As an integral part of our team, you will provide comprehensive support in environmental management across our processing facilities, tailings facilities, and biodiversity offset projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide project support related to approvals associated with the Boddington's LOM Tailings Storage Facility strategy, to ensure timely construction and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Work with teams to ensure compliance with Newmont's voluntary commitment to ICMC, GISTM, and TSM.
- Project management of offset areas to meet statutory obligations and progression towards nature positive outcomes.
- Lead day-to-day biodiversity activities related to the operation's considerable land holdings, including the management of invasive species and control of dieback.
- Contribute to the preservation and enhancement of conservation significant fauna and flora within our operations.
- Manage external contractors and work with external stakeholders to complete field work and further site knowledge around biodiversity values.
- Proactively engage with internal partners to seamlessly integrate environmental considerations into all operational activities.
- Conduct environmental training and awareness programs, work area inspections, contractor management engagement.
- Assist in audits, third-party inspections, and evolution of internal standards.
About You
- Sound understanding of WA and Commonwealth legislation relevant to mining.
- Working knowledge of land management with a mindset to no net loss of key biodiversity values.
- Experience in environmental management associated with processing or beneficiation of ore.
- An enthusiastic can-do attitude to engage in fieldwork associated with management of fauna and flora surveys.
- Effective communication skills to listen, consult, and negotiate.
- Strong interpersonal skills, motivated to work with a broad range of personnel.
- Proactive personal commitment in regard to safety, and environmental and social responsibility practices.
- Significant experience writing proposals and reports to satisfy internal and external administrative processes.
- Prior experience in managing contractors and overseeing land, baseline, and monitoring projects.
