Investigations Research Associate

The role of an Investigations Research Associate involves supporting case managers to conduct in-depth research into companies and individuals. The purpose is to provide an accurate assessment of the status, legitimacy, background, and market/industry reputation of a subject company and its principals.
This position requires conducting exploratory research on businesses, individuals, industries, and events using public and proprietary sources. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting detailed analysis to identify reputational, regulatory, and financial crime risks.
- Reviewing various official public records and other forms of open-source material available online.
- Interpreting and distilling significant patterns and developments from research findings.
- Writing structured, objective, and client-focused reports that address key questions and concerns.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong academic background or equivalent professional experience demonstrating proficiency in analytical research, complex problem solving, and critical thinking.
- Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience in research, investigations, or related fields.
- Familiarity with the Australian political, business, institutional, and social landscape is preferred.
- Strong writing ability and proficiency in using online databases and research tools are essential.
- Experience conducting research in the ANZ–Pacific region and proficiency in a second language (Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese, or Indonesian) are advantageous.
