About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Data Governance Strategist to join our team at Westpac Group.

As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in driving strategic initiatives and operational excellence in data governance. Your primary responsibility will be to lead our data governance journey, developing and implementing a robust data management plan that aligns with our business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating Key Data Management Forums: You will be responsible for coordinating key data management forums, including the divisional Data Council and lower-level forums with Business & Wealth Lines of Business.
  • Developing and Implementing the Divisional Data Management Plan: You will develop, implement, and maintain the divisional Data Management Plan, ensuring it is aligned with our business objectives.
  • Monitoring Data Management Key Indicators: You will monitor data management key indicators and other metrics, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: You will work closely with Data Platforms, Line 2 Risk, and Lines of Business (LOB) Data Management teams to monitor data management activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in Data Management or Data Risk and Controls: We are looking for an individual with experience in data management or data risk and controls, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including an ability to understand and translate technical concepts into business language.
  • Demonstrated Stakeholder Engagement Skills: You should have demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Working with Data: You should be proficient in working with data to deliver business insights, with experience using tools like Excel and Power BI (or similar).

As a Chief Data Governance Strategist at Westpac Group, you can expect a competitive salary of AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
