Regional Aviation Development Specialist

At The International Air Transport Association, we are passionate about making air travel safer, smarter, and more sustainable. We're looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as a Regional Aviation Development Specialist in Sydney, Australia.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and executing IATA's activities in the South West Pacific region. This includes delivering our agenda, achieving set objectives, and building strong relationships with member airlines, airports, and government officials.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the delivery of IATA's agenda in the South West Pacific region.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders, including airlines, airports, and government departments.
- Advocate for and promote IATA's policies, positions, and objectives among industry stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on regional economic and commercial developments, taking actions aligned with IATA's policies and objectives.
- Work closely with the Area Manager to address airport operations and flight safety issues.
- Support corporate fiscal, legal, and regulatory compliance in the South West Pacific region.
- Contribute to commercial and business development activities, identifying new opportunities and market trends.
- Maintain effective communication with the Corporate Communications department and the Regional Leadership Team.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A university degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field (an advanced degree is an asset).
- Minimum 20 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
- Proven leadership skills, excellent negotiation and lobbying abilities, and a high level of cultural intelligence.
- A well-established understanding of airport operations, environmental sustainability initiatives, and cargo logistics (prior experience in sales and marketing is an asset).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English (knowledge of French and other regional languages is advantageous).
- Able to work in a small team environment and navigate complex information technology systems.
IATA offers a competitive salary range of AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience. You'll also enjoy benefits such as flexible work arrangements, travel benefits, family-friendly policies, equal pay, and a day off on your birthday.
