About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Gateway Commissioning Engineer to join our Ground Systems team at Amazon Kuiper Australia Pty Ltd - M63. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and commissioning high-performance ground gateways for our Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site ground terminal installations and commissioning at hundreds of sites globally.
  • Deliver operational sites to the Kuiper Operations Team, including physical, network, RF, calibration, and site acceptance.
  • Support site troubleshooting and maintenance to provide an unparalleled customer experience.
  • Engage with industry-leading partners to execute our installation strategy.
  • Develop installation processes, mechanisms, and standard operating procedures supporting terminal installation at scale.
  • Design system test and verification processes and document in at-scale mechanisms.
  • Manage tactical interactions with partners to ensure milestones, deliverables, and technical artifacts are technically compliant with project objectives and programmatic requirements.
  • Work with stakeholder teams to deliver terminals in sync with ground implementation goals.
  • Develop team training plans and materials.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks, and change control.
  • Relentlessly simplify and innovate to solve challenging site installation and integration problems.
  • Own our efforts in the APAC region.
About the Team

The Ground Systems team is responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper's Ground and TT&C Gateways. Our Ground Gateways enable high data rate, low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence and our Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellation. The team works closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure Kuiper provides a seamless customer experience.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working in satellite communications ground systems and operations.
  • 3+ years of work experience in design and commission of radio/mobile telecommunications/RAN installations or SATCOM earth stations.
  • 2+ years of network integration experience in troubleshooting and on-site support.
  • Bachelor's degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading projects among cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes, and coordinating delivery schedules.
  • Experience with satellite communications earth stations or network development, deployment, and operation.
  • Experience leading globally located earth station projects.
  • Ka-band experience as related to earth/ground station infrastructure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a highly motivated team who insists on the highest standards and deliver systems that delight customers.
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • LEO and/or MEO satellite systems experience.
  • Expertise with program management tools (Smartsheet, Confluence, JIRA).
