Role Overview

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Laboratory Technician to enhance our Laboratory team based at our South Brisbane facility.

Reporting directly to the Laboratory Coordinator, your responsibilities will encompass conducting chemical and microbiological assessments of in-line, finished products, and raw materials. You will be tasked with ensuring that accurate and timely test results are conveyed to both internal and external stakeholders, through written documentation and verbal communication.

You will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment according to established cleaning and calibration protocols, while upholding safety and cleanliness standards at all times. Additionally, you will manage the receipt, verification, and storage of laboratory supplies and perform other related duties as necessary. Familiarity with HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, and Occupational Health & Safety principles is advantageous but not mandatory.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field, or relevant experience in a laboratory setting supporting food production, along with knowledge of good laboratory practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to precision and accuracy. You should be self-driven and capable of working independently;
  • A strong emphasis on quality assurance and safety; and
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

The compensation for this role ranges from $85,000 to $90,000.
