Role Summary

The role of a Patient Accounts Officer is to manage patient accounts across multiple disciplines, ensuring seamless billing processes and effective communication with patients and clinicians.

  • Manage creation and issue of patient estimates, generation of invoices, receipting and debt collection in line with Debtors Management policy & procedure.
  • Effectively communicate treatment fee structures and respond to patient account enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Support clinicians by ensuring patients understand the billing system and funding mechanisms of Medicare and private health funds.
  • Ensure accurate processing of medical accounts, including knowledge of Medicare, DVA and private health funds.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Process patient accounts efficiently, adhering to organisational procedures.
  2. Communicate clearly with patients regarding billing and payment requirements.
  3. Collaborate with clinicians to address patient billing queries and concerns.
  4. Maintain accurate records of patient accounts and debtors management.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of clinical administration systems and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Flexible and motivated individual with excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Proven experience working independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
