About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). As a key member of our System Design department, you will play a critical role in connecting large-scale renewable energy projects to the Australian electricity market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end connection of complex projects, providing expert guidance to regional team members.
  • Provide technical advice and decision-making on performance standard assessment, power system stability, and system strength remediation.
  • Support regulatory changes to facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including generation developers, network service providers, and government agencies.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the electricity industry, including the National Electricity Market (NEM) dispatch process and generator behavior.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Well-developed experience in managing generator connection processes and resolving performance issues.
