Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Peer Support Worker to join our team at the Psychological Trauma Service (PTS). As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing formalized peer support and practical assistance to service users, promoting their recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate group activities to support service users in their recovery journey
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to service users, promoting their autonomy and self-determination
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and senior team members to develop and shape the trauma service
  • Integrate strong processes that support consumer perspective recovery, outlining specific functions, importance, and benefits across multidiscipline teams

Requirements

  • Lived experience of mental challenges and a rich understanding of your own recovery processes
  • Formal qualifications not mandatory, but may be helpful (Certificate IV in Peer Work, Cert IV in Mental Health, Intentional Peer Support training, Peer Supervision Training)
  • 2-5 years' experience in peer work or lived experience roles
  • Experience of the public or private mental health system
  • Australian working rights
  • Full Covid-19 and 2023 Influenza vaccination
  • Current Victorian Driver's License
  • Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a Background Check
