Job Title: Technical Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer to join our team at the University of New South Wales. As a Technical Officer, you will be responsible for providing expert technical knowledge and support to staff and students, while ensuring a safe and effective workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all users of the Jewellery Studio and provide technical advice on jewellery and metal smithing processes and tools.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and inductions to ensure users are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Plan, schedule, and prepare resources for teaching and research activities, including equipment maintenance and upkeep.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and meet their needs, and provide technical support to staff and students.
  • Contribute to the development of online content to promote the effective use of equipment, software, and hardware.
Requirements:
  • A relevant trade certificate or tertiary degree, or extensive relevant work experience in a technical role.
  • Intermediate experience in jewellery and metal smithing processes and tools.
  • Technical knowledge of machine and equipment upkeep and maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
