About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Project Officer to join our team at the Minerals Research Institute of WA (MRIWA). As a key member of our Research Team, you will play a critical role in the design and delivery of our research functions, working closely with external research partners and supporting cross-government initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on initiative and efficiency, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You will be comfortable taking responsibility for prioritizing your workload and working flexibly across multiple focus areas, communicating and engaging with other business functions to deliver on organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop programs and initiatives in line with the strategic direction and governance processes of the organization
  • Manage a range of existing research projects delivered by external research partners
  • Support cross-government initiatives and engage with stakeholders across MRIWA's networks
  • Undertake strategic research and analysis to contribute to building MRIWA into a high-performance, innovative organization
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business management, public sector management, mining engineering, mineral processing or similar
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in thinking strategically and conceptually in solving complex problems and a demonstrated understanding and application of project management principles or policy development
  • Highly developed communication skills including negotiation and facilitation and a demonstrated ability to write fluently and persuasively in a range of styles and formats
  • Demonstrated experience effectively interacting with and influencing internal and external stakeholders to obtain broad support for project development and delivery
