About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Laboratory Technician to join our team at Newton Moore Senior High School. As a Science Specialist School, our Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in delivering an exceptional science program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare chemicals, equipment, and materials for science experiments and lessons.
  • Design and construct teaching aids and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
  • Collect and care for living organisms, including maintaining an Aquaculture and Environmental Centre and an Engineering Laboratory.
  • Manage laboratory stocks, including ordering supplies, liaising with suppliers, and conducting annual stock-takes.
  • Ensure the preparation areas and laboratories are safe and productive learning environments for staff and students.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
  • Demonstrated good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
