About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Scientific Operations Coordinator to support the day-to-day activities of the lab. This is a 2-year term contract with the possibility to extend.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage laboratory operations, workflows, and resources, ensuring seamless coordination between clinical and genomic samples and data.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant institutional, ethics, and grant reporting requirements, guaranteeing the highest standards of research integrity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Garvan Finance team to track spending, perform budget forecasting, and generate reports, providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and submit Human Research Ethics Committee applications, ensuring timely approval for research initiatives.
  • Support the production of scientific manuscripts and presentations, as well as funding applications to government, philanthropic, and industry bodies, showcasing our expertise and achievements.
  • Recruit and consent participants, collect, process, track, and store clinical samples, while coordinating the submission of these samples to external service providers.
  • Supervise junior staff and students, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their growth and success.
About You
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree or higher, complemented by at least two years of experience in laboratory or project management.
  • Your exceptional time management and organizational skills enable you to manage complex workloads effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • You possess excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of your work.
  • Your ability to manage multiple projects independently, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, allows you to build effective relationships with colleagues, researchers, and external stakeholders.
  • You excel in written and verbal communication, having led the production of high-quality funding applications, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement drives your professional growth and contributes to the success of our research initiatives.
  • You are highly proficient in online collaborative tools, such as Airtable, Slack, and Google Workspace, facilitating seamless teamwork and information exchange.
