Lead Animator

Job Title:

Create complex and believable animations for in-game and cinematic projects.

  • Collaborate with the department lead to assign shots and tasks that enhance character and action understanding, emotional depth, and gameplay goals.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, and Environment to achieve visual and narrative excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Utilize Motion Capture editing and Key Framing techniques to craft game motions for gameplay mechanics, cinematics, viewmodel/weapon animations, or third-person vignettes.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of camera animation, cinematic framing, shot continuity, and facial animation principles.
  • Respond to feedback and iterate to deliver high-quality results.
  • Troubleshoot tool implementations and optimize workflows for efficiency and creativity.
  • Provide expertise on performance concerns, scope assessment, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Apply experience creatively and independently with minimal guidance.
Requirements:
  • Strong professional animation experience.
  • In-depth experience as a game animator with a focus on character movement and animation principles.
  • Knowledge of Cinematic and Motion Capture Editing software.
  • Strong fundamentals in human movement and anatomy.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Expertise in Maya.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills across departments.
  • Mentoring abilities for Junior Animators.
  • A philosophical approach to character movement and animation design.
Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of character creation (modeling, texturing, rigging).
  • Interest in live previs shoots for motion capture.
