Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Property, and Commercial Auto.

The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting risk, analyzing and evaluating new submissions and renewal accounts, and communicating with Agents and internal partners to ensure profitability and generate quality new business submissions and retention.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time salaried position that requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, as well as a minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial Lines Middle Market Underwriting.
  • The candidate should be results-driven, resourceful, and able to articulate risk management principles and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite risk, including decisions on complex risks, applying insurance rules and regulations in accordance with guidelines.
  • Analyze and evaluate new submissions and renewal accounts to determine acceptability of the risk within parameters outlined in the Underwriting Authority CL Underwriter Document.
  • Review, interpret, and process data from applications and loss history.
  • Communicate appetite, underwriting standards, declination reasons, and coverage advantages to Agents and internal partners to ensure profitability and generate quality new business submissions and retention.
