About the role:
The Customer Operations Engineer is responsible for working within our Data Centres (IBX) as part of a rotating shift team. Their primary task is to provide our customers with the highest standards of technical service required. They also perform first-level support for facility alarms and issues, and conduct housekeeping duties to maintain the Data Centre in first-class condition at all times.
Applicants from various backgrounds are welcome, but ideally have a passion, education or work experience within the IT industry. The Customer Operations team plays a key role in the success of our daily operations and offers a great work/life balance due to the shift patterns and are entitled to 5 weeks annual leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute Smart Hands tasks accurately within the required time frame
- Install ladder racks and fibre raceways
- Build/Install cages
- Install cable management/support systems including vertical wire managers, horizontal wire managers, and patch panels
- Back-up Tape Change: accurate completion of tape change in required time frame
- Provide Sundry items and tools: accurate completion of sundry items forms
- IBX Cleanliness: completion of scheduled checks
- Cross Connects: accurate completion of assigned cross-connects installations
- After Hours Facility response: feedback from Facility team
- Alarm Response: review response time to alarms
- Facility Routine Patrols: review of Daily Patrol Logs
- Network Management: provide network provisioning and support to the core, IT, wireless and facility networks including third-party management and cabling infrastructure
