Configuration Management Officer Job Description

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Configuration Management Officer to join our team based in Adelaide. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing engineering baselines, supporting configuration and review boards, conducting audits, and assisting the Data Management Team.

You will provide engineering configuration management services for our Naval Combat Systems (NCS) division and projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and contribute to critical Naval Combat Systems projects.

This role requires a fast-paced, demanding, and challenging environment with the ability to solve problems quickly. Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Configuration Manager in developing and implementing CM frameworks.
  • Coordinating engineering data, documentation, and technical media.
  • Managing outcomes from Engineering Review Boards (ERB) and Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
  • Participating in functional and physical configuration audits.
  • Developing and maintaining system and product breakdown structures for Combat Management Systems and Combat System Projects.
  • Preparing and issuing Configuration Status Account Reports (CSARs).

About you:

Your skills and experience should include:

  • A minimum of 3 years of Defence industry experience in project-based or engineering management environments.
  • An understanding of Configuration Management Standard EIA649C.
  • Experience with configuration management tools and engineering data management systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with ASDEFCON contracting frameworks and IFS Applications - Enterprise Solutions.

Qualification & Personal Attributes:

  • Industry-recognised Configuration Management training or equivalent experience.
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
  • A strong collaborative, accountable, and innovative mindset.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-driven.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.

Please note that Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
