Job Title: Mental Health SpecialistA mental health specialist is required to support the wellbeing of students in a leading educational institution.The ideal candidate will have expertise in implementing holistic approaches to student wellbeing, building resilience and connectedness, and identifying opportunities for proactive and preventative programs.The successful applicant will be responsible for providing and maintaining student wellbeing service delivery, including counselling and assisting with staff professional development relating to student wellbeing where applicable.Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing a whole school approach to student wellbeing, building resilience and connectedness, and identifying opportunities for proactive and preventative programs
  • Providing and maintaining student wellbeing service delivery, including counselling and assisting with staff professional development relating to student wellbeing where applicable
  • Conducting individual case management using a systems approach and referring on to outside providers as necessary
  • Attending parent/teacher meetings and Pastoral Care meetings as required
  • Facilitating programs accessible to the broader school community
  • Working collaboratively in the assessment of students and submissions for funding and special provisions
  • Working with parents, teachers, and external professionals to implement learning recommendations
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders using excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
  • Strong commitment to providing safe, high-quality care using a client-centred approach
  • Strong computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to interpret data and write reports
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and maintaining privacy of all students intact
  • Ability to manage pastoral issues through effective dialogue and process
  • Experience of working with children from a culturally and/or linguistically diverse background
  • Previous experience working at a school
  • Accredited Master's Degree in Psychology
  • Psychologist registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency)
