Job Role:

This is a part-time position situated in the Biochemistry department at Launceston General Hospital.

The successful candidate will perform professional work and complex or critical laboratory work under professional supervision.

The role involves applying professional judgement and scientific specialist knowledge towards performance, analysis and troubleshooting of standard diagnostic procedures.

You will also forge close professional relationships with interdepartmental teams and be able to confidentially communicate information with requestors and clinical personnel seeking information on samples, results or test related information.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Forge close professional relationships with interdepartmental teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
  • Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology.
