Senior Multimedia Designer

About the Role

We're seeking a creative professional to lead the development of high-quality design and audiovisual content that supports essential government initiatives. As a Senior Multimedia Designer, you'll use your skills to create compelling visual assets that inform and engage Queensland residents on topics like state revenue, fines, and debt management.

In this role, you'll work closely with the Communications team and other business units to deliver engaging multimedia solutions aligned with our strategic objectives. From initial concept to the finished product, you'll take the lead on crafting videos, animations, photography, graphic designs, and layouts that bring important information to life across both digital and print platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Production: Develop a wide array of visual assets, including videos, animations, photography, graphic designs, layouts, and typesetting, from concept through to final production.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work proactively with Communications, web teams, and stakeholders to identify and seize opportunities to enhance public understanding through visual communication.
  • Brand Management: Implement Queensland Government branding and accessibility standards across all creative outputs, ensuring a consistent and recognizable identity.
  • Design Innovation: Stay informed on design and audiovisual trends, suggesting new ways to incorporate these into our work to continually elevate our approach.
  • Project Management: Oversee end-to-end creative projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Coordinate procurement of external creative services as needed and maintain clear communication with service providers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Understand and balance the needs of different business units, working with stakeholders to produce designs that meet their specific objectives.
  • Advisory Role: Offer insights to the Principal Communications Officer on design strategies, current issues, and potential improvements to our visual content approach.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Proven Industry Experience: Strong background in multimedia design, with a diverse portfolio of high-impact projects across digital and print.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, UX/UI principles, CX design, and production techniques for animation and video.
  • Project Leadership: Solid project management skills to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines, while maintaining high standards.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external providers.
  • Digital-First Mindset: Enthusiasm for leveraging digital tools and strategies to produce compelling, accessible content that reaches diverse audiences.

The estimated salary for this position is around $80,000-$120,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a full-time position initially, with a three-month commitment and a requirement for a criminal background check.
