Job Summary

This role is for a skilled Mining Operations Expert to join our team at SLR. As an expert in mining operations, you will be responsible for undertaking reviews of client quarry operations, site safety inspections, and the preparation of safety system documentation.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mining Operations Expert who can assist with site operations including optimisation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining and quarrying operations, health and safety qualifications, and relevant legislative knowledge.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in operating mining and quarrying equipment, risk management, and auditing. Excellent communication and report writing skills are also essential.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake review of client quarry operations to assist with site operations including optimisation
  • Conduct site safety inspections, including safety systems reviews and audits
  • Prepare safety system documentation, such as SWMS, Risk Assessments, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Write reports and document findings
  • Support the Technical Director in the delivery of projects
  • Manage key client relationships and understand their needs and services
  • Estimate fees for clients
  • Meet project deadlines
  • Advise clients on regulatory requirements and notices
  • Provide technical and operational advice to clients on matters related to the quarry and extractive industry
Requirements
  • RII50120 Diploma of Surface Operations Management/Surface Extraction or equivalent engineering qualifications
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications or demonstrated experience
  • Relevant legislative knowledge of the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017 and Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act 2013
  • Site Senior Executive Notice (Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999) is desirable
  • A minimum of 8-10 years' experience in operating mining and quarrying equipment, including HME and crushing and screening plant
  • Experience in risk management and assessments
  • Safety and auditing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the resources, quarry, and extractive industry
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
