New Hope Group is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Professional to join our team at the New Acland Coal Mine. As a key member of our HSET team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing successful health and safety system initiatives, setting strategic direction for the safety function, and driving safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete HST reporting and audit requirements
  • Coordinate and assist in investigating incident causes and implementation action plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Support and facilitate the maintenance of all Health and Safety documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate and deliver training to new starters in best practice risk management processes
  • Coordination of Emergency Response systems and processes
  • Coordination and auditing of first aid, mines rescue, and fire equipment
  • Support Contract Manager/s with routine inspections of contractors to verify compliance to SHEMs

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in WHS or similar
  • Demonstrated site-based mining industry experience in a WHS capacity (5 years minimum)
  • Extensive knowledge and application of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act including relevant regulations, guidelines, and Australian Standards
  • People management and leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with front line leaders and workforce
  • High level judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving capability, as well as a professional level of written and oral communication skills
  • S123, G2, G3 and ICAM Lead Investigation Competencies (desirable)
