About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at St George Hospital. This is a permanent Full Time position, ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive laboratory environment and is looking to build a stable career in pathology.

This role involves delivering a range of operational laboratory activities, including coordination and provision of scientific and technical training. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ongoing review, development and quality management of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in clinical molecular microbiology, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Control Systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite, is also required.

Working Conditions

This is a Category A position, which requires all applicants to read and understand NSW Health Policy Directive PD2024_015 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases.

All recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy and provide evidence against specified diseases prior to appointment.
