Director of Nursing Job Description

This role is responsible for leading and growing our nursing department, shaping the future of fertility care at our clinic.

About the Role

As the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for building, managing, and mentoring our nursing team while ensuring that patient care remains at the heart of everything we do. This role is both strategic and hands-on, with responsibilities across clinical leadership, team development, patient care, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to the nursing department, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Nursing Policy and Protocol Development: Develop, implement, and oversee nursing policies, systems, and protocols to ensure world-class patient care.
  • Recruitment and Staff Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing staff, ensuring mandatory training and performance reviews are consistently maintained.
  • Quality Improvement Initiatives: Drive quality improvement initiatives, audits, and compliance in line with RTAC, WH&S, and industry standards.
  • Patient Feedback and Complaints: Monitor and manage patient feedback, resolving clinical complaints with professionalism and care.
  • Operational Planning: Lead operational planning, including resource allocation, rostering, and procurement of clinical supplies.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Collaborate with the executive team to support business growth, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
  • Registration: Registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife (AHPRA).
  • Experience: Significant experience in infertility nursing, with ongoing professional development in the field.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience in managing nursing teams within a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of compliance, quality assurance, and clinical governance frameworks. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with patients, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Approach and Attitude: A proactive, solutions-focused approach to managing challenges and driving continuous improvement.
  • Travel Requirements: Valid driver's license and passport (ability to travel nationally/internationally as required).
