PhD Researcher in Photonic Circuits

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at Monash University, working on the development of photonic circuits for microcombs. This project focuses on the use of self-calibrating photonic chips in various optical systems, including optical communications links, artificial neural networks, and scientific instruments.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop photonic chip architectures for microcombs
- Characterize and optimize photonic devices for high-speed communication
- Collaborate with international partners to advance the field of optical microcombs
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
- Strong background in optics, photonics, and communication engineering
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Full-time PhD scholarship with a stipend of $35,013 p.a. (tax-free)
- Tuition fees waived by Monash University
- Opportunities for international collaboration and travel
This project is part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science (COMBS), a large dynamic community that spans across Australia and beyond. Our research aims to leverage microcombs to make the most of the bandwidth advantage, enabling energy-efficient functionality at ultra-high bandwidths.
