Job Overview

A leading engineering firm is seeking a highly experienced Tailings Engineer to support clients' tailings and mine waste management teams in ensuring their facilities are safe and compliant with evolving standards.

The successful candidate will have expertise in civil, geotechnical, and tailings dam design, as well as experience with numerical modeling tools and software packages such as Muk3D.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of civil, geotechnical, and tailings dams;
  • Geotechnical analyses using various software packages;
  • Understanding of tailing deposition modeling (Muk3D);
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications;
  • Client development;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field (required);
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field (preferred);
  • Professional registration (preferred but not essential);
  • Engineer of Record (EoR) certification (required);
  • At least 8 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment or equivalent combination of education and experience (required);
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (required);
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools (preferred);
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed (required);
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required);
  • Valid Australian driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required);
