Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Are you a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for payroll management? We are seeking a highly motivated Payroll Specialist to join our team at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an accurate and efficient payroll service to the hotel and supporting teams and managers through payroll-related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end weekly payroll cycle, from processing, reviewing, and submitting for payment to management and statutory reporting.
  • Prepare and verify the monthly accruals for salaries, wages, and on-costs.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Calculate termination, redundancy, and other payments.
  • Manage the payroll financial year-end process.
  • Responsible for the monthly and yearly reporting cycle, including Superannuation, Payroll Tax, FBT & WGEA.
  • Partner with the Human Resources to manage the payroll enquiry and compliance cycle.
  • Project manage the onboarding of a brand new Food & Beverage department and team, assisting in creating roster templates and reporting tools to manage the rostering function.
  • Responsible for the System Administration.
  • Perform additional General Ledger duties related to treasury and reconciliations.
Requirements
  • A proven track record of success in a similar role (hospitality industry preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of awards, superannuation, taxation, payroll, and employment law (HIGA experience highly regarded).
  • A passion for innovation and driving improvements within the Payroll function.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
