Meat Processing Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Meat Processing Specialist to join our team in Dandenong, Victoria.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating switching controls to direct and drop carcasses and meat cuts from supply rails to boning tables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cutting meat to separate meat, fat and tissue from around bones.
- Washing, scraping, and trimming foreign material and blood from meat.
- Cutting sides and quarters of meat into standard meat cuts, such as rumps, flanks and shoulders, and removing internal fat, blood clots, bruises and other matter to prepare them for packing and marketing.
In addition, the Meat Processing Specialist will also operate restrainers, and stunning equipment, undertake the kill process and facilitate dressing, and slit open, eviscerate, trim and prepare animal carcasses for the boning room.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent knife skills and maintenance of personal equipment.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent reliability, attendance and timekeeping at work.
- Good communication and positive teamwork.
- Sound problem solving capabilities, including reporting malfunctioning of equipment, or workplace health and safety issues.
- Ability to manage priorities to meet production schedules.
- Ability to work within a cold storage environment and with raw meat products.
- Sound understanding of Australian meat industry.
- AQF Certificate III in Meat Processing (in Boning Room or Slaughtering streams).
- Fully vaccinated for Q Fever (or be willing to undergo the Q Fever vaccination process).
- Must complete a Pre-employment medical functional drug and alcohol test.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
This is a full-time position with a salary range of between $65,000 - $75,000 per annum + superannuation. The exact salary will be commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.
