The Role
This role provides an opportunity to apply analytical thinking and methods to interpret data, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop models to analyse and forecast workforce demand and market usage, attrition rates, and skill requirements. The role will require extensive knowledge to collect, cleanse and interpret external workforce data from various sources and Defence systems.

The role is part of the Defence Contractor Task Force. Defence has committed to reducing its reliance on external contractors and increasing its APS workforce, consistent with the Federal Government commitment. Your work will support Defence to reduce reliance on external labour by 2,000 by the end of 2024 and further initiatives that support improvements to controls and governance to manage above the line contractors and ensure Defence has the appropriate workforce mix to deliver on Government priorities.

Our ideal candidate for this role will have a strong foundation in statistics, coupled with practical experience in data collection and analysis. You should have a keen eye for detail, a passion for problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in extracting, cleansing, and analysing large datasets from various sources to derive actionable insights.
  • Statistical Modelling: Strong background in statistical methods and techniques for modelling workforce trends, forecasting demand, and identifying patterns.
  • Data Visualisation: Ability to create informative and visually appealing charts, graphs, and dashboards to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to address workforce challenges and develop innovative solutions.
