Senior Governance Leader Wanted

The day centre we are talking about is a community-based organisation that offers meaningful respite and social connection for older adults with dementia. This is done in a warm, inclusive environment where people feel valued and engaged.

We have been supporting clients and their carers for over 40 years through our unique model of care grounded in dignity, compassion, and creativity. Our vision is to build our profile, strengthen our governance, and explore new funding models to ensure our impact endures well into the future.

The Opportunity We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Senior Governance Leader who will play a vital role in guiding our strategic direction, sustainability, and governance. As a leader, you will join us at a pivotal moment as we deliver a refreshed strategic plan, expand our community partnerships, and evolve our model to meet the changing needs of older adults and their families.

This is a voluntary position with an initial 3-year term (renewable), and it is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to an organisation with deeply held values.

About You

We are keen to hear from individuals who are purpose-driven, committed to enhancing the lives of people living with dementia. They should be experienced in one or more of the following areas: aged care, dementia support, clinical governance, fundraising, marketing, or community engagement.

Candidates should be collaborative and curious, bringing fresh ideas and thoughtful oversight. They should be comfortable in a hands-on, small-organisation setting. Based in Boronia, hybrid attendance is available.

We are especially interested in candidates who reflect the diversity of the community we serve and bring professional experience in clinical governance as it relates to ageing, caregiving, or dementia.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance and oversight in line with our Constitution and values. They will monitor and support the implementation of our strategic plan and budget, uphold strong governance, financial, and risk management practices.

They will participate in quarterly Board meetings, an annual general meeting, and relevant committee work. The candidate will act as an ambassador for our organisation, helping to grow our relationships and reach.

They will contribute to the ongoing review and development of Board policies and processes.
