Job Description

As a park labourer, you will be responsible for maintaining the beauty and functionality of our outdoor spaces. This role involves performing various tasks such as mowing, mulching, whipper snipping, and blowing down pathways to ensure our parks and gardens look their best.

This includes:

  • Maintaining horticulture practices, including mulching garden beds, whipper snipping, and mowing lawns.
  • Performing general labouring duties on construction and maintenance projects as requested by the supervisor or leading hand.
  • Working across parks, roads, and drains operations, performing tasks such as park/tree/roadside/infrastructure maintenance and natural areas operational works.
  • Handling and safely disposing of materials and waste.
  • Using and maintaining plant and equipment provided, including all personal protective equipment, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and council's safety policy and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing and maintaining gardening tools and equipment.
  2. Providing support to other teams and departments as needed.
  3. Participating in training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
  4. Contributing to the overall success and growth of the organization.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role or a role requiring a similar skill set.
  • Experience in using relevant maintenance and construction equipment.
  • Numeracy, written and verbal communication skills sufficient to undertake administrative duties necessary for the role.
  • Sound experience in undertaking manual tasks in a safe conscious manner and physical fitness required to safely perform all aspects of this role.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
