About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Markets Engineering Manager/Director to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and engineering, to evolve our mission-critical Foreign Exchange and Liquidity platform. As a leader, you will be responsible for designing and executing an engineering strategy in partnership with senior leaders and overseeing the delivery and overall health of the Financial Markets engineering domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead high-performing engineering teams and leaders to deliver seamless global native capability across Airwallex's diverse product ecosystem.
- Design and execute an engineering strategy in partnership with senior leaders to drive the growth and success of the Financial Markets engineering domain.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on solving availability and consistency challenges across mission-critical, distributed systems.
- 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team with a focus on technical leadership and people management.
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and backend technologies, including Java or Kotlin, Spring/Spring Boot.
- Evidence of working on high-volume distributed systems and experience with automated tests and quality control processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating with observability tooling such as Splunk, NewRelic, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Financial Markets, FX, or Payments domain knowledge.
