Orrcon Steel is a leading manufacturer of steel tube and pipe, seeking an Automation Technician to join its Maintenance and Reliability team in Unanderra. This role involves working hands-on with cutting-edge equipment and collaborating with a close-knit, experienced team.

The Automation Technician will play a key role in building, testing, and optimizing sophisticated systems in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for assembling, wiring, and setting up automation equipment and control panels, as well as supporting the build and testing of systems to ensure smooth operation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, hold a current Electrical License, and possess a Certificate III in Electrotechnology or Instrumentation qualification. They should also have good knowledge of Australian Standards related to automation systems, interpret electrical drawings, and communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders.

What You'll Do:
  • Assemble, wire, and set up automation equipment and control panels.
  • Support the build and testing of systems to ensure smooth operation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and coordinators to troubleshoot and fine-tune operations.
  • Install new and modified equipment on-site and ensure it's functioning correctly.
  • Contribute to maintenance and upgrades to keep systems performing at their best.
