Senior Legal Officer Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Officer to join our Legal Services Group. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic advice to the Chief Counsel and stakeholders, ensuring that priority matters are actioned appropriately.

The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, ability to exercise sound judgement, and highly developed administrative, planning, and organisational skills. You will also have the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and provide support with the highest degree of integrity and discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development and preparation of high-quality legal advice for a range of ministerial, parliamentary, and media correspondence
  • Review the legal advice prepared by the Group, assessing that legal risk has been identified, recorded, and assessed
  • Provide strategic advice to the Chief Counsel and stakeholders to ensure priority matters are actioned appropriately
  • Prepare, coordinate, and proof complex or sensitive correspondence, including corporate documentation, submissions, talking points, briefing papers, and senior committee papers

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law and admission as a legal practitioner required
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating the development, preparation, and review of high-quality legal advice for a range of ministerial, parliamentary, and media correspondence
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to exercise sound judgement, and highly developed administrative, planning, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to provide support with the highest degree of integrity and discretion
