Job Title:

Land Care Assistant

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing conservation and land care services to various stakeholders. This includes caring for landscapes within the community, understanding local flora and fauna, and implementing methods to conserve and protect the environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Maintaining hedges, lawns, gardens, and natural environments through weeding, hedging, mowing, watering, and other basic conservation activities.
  2. Selecting and using relevant personal protective equipment appropriate for various land care task types.
  3. Undertaking employability training such as mentoring, coaching, and industry site visits.
  4. Reporting on conservation and program progress, including basic report writing and photograph collation.
  5. Basic gardening, planning, design, construction, and/or repair as required.
Requirements:
  • A passion for conservation, ecosystem management, and working outdoors.
  • Access to public transport or owning a vehicle.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate; or willingness to obtain.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • YMCA's Safeguarding Children Training Certificate and completion of annual refresher training.
