Maths Teacher Job Description

The Maths Teacher role is a key position in the school's education team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach maths to students in years 7-10
  • Develop and implement maths curriculum programs
  • Mentor and coach other teachers to improve their maths teaching practice
  • Provide expert advice on maths teaching approaches
  • Supervise and train student maths teachers

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of maths curriculum standards
  • Experience in responding to students' learning needs in maths
  • Ability to plan and implement high-impact maths teaching strategies
  • Experience in monitoring and assessing students' maths learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a maths teaching environment

Responsibilities:

  • Have content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet diverse maths student needs

Key Performance Indicators:

The primary focus of this teacher role is on further developing maths teaching skills and competencies to become an effective maths classroom practitioner.

  • Teach maths to a range of students/classes
  • Accountable for the effective delivery of maths programs
  • Participate in policy development and implementation related to maths teaching
  • Assist and participate in project teams and co-curricula activities that promote maths education

Eligibility:

This maths teacher role is open to qualified maths teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL)
