Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Senior Principal Digital Hardware Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our program hardware team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing digital communication systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop digital communication systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Develop and modify procedures for system alignment and troubleshooting.
  • Perform system, subsystem, unit, and board-level troubleshooting and repair.
  • Respond to system and subsystem anomalies, explaining root cause and fault resolution to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Have experience using oscilloscopes, BER testers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and other equipment used for testing digital communication systems.
  • Have an understanding of AC and DC electronic theory, as well as various communication protocols such as RS232, RS422, GPIB, etc.
  • Have experience with BPSK and QPSK waveforms and methods for testing and troubleshooting systems that use such techniques.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline, plus 5 years of engineering/technical experience, or a Master's Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline, plus 3 years of engineering/technical experience, or a PhD in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline, plus 0 years of engineering/technical experience, or a High School Diploma/GED, plus 9 years of engineering/technical experience in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic communication theory, digital and analog modulation/demodulation techniques, AC and DC electronic theory.
  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI access, and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with an SSBI/Counter Intelligence polygraph within the last 4 years.
  • Knowledgeable in BPSK and QPSK waveforms and methods for testing and troubleshooting systems that use such techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various communication protocols such as RS232, RS422, GPIB, etc.
