We are seeking a highly skilled Private Label Product Developer to join our Merchandising team at Pet Circle. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving the expansion of our private label offering, leading to increased revenue and customer loyalty to our brands.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the product development process within your portfolio, aligning with our private label strategy and ensuring quality and innovation are at the heart of what we do.
- Develop and introduce new products that meet clear customer and business requirements, with a focus on maximum impact.
- Ensure all products are formulated in line with brand guidelines and corporate initiatives.
- Manage the critical path and artwork process, including effective supplier management and communication.
- Identify key global trends and translate them into the pet industry, across consumables and non-consumables.
- Ensure adherence to stage & gate requirements from concept to launch.
- Lead NPD and EPD projects across consumables and non-consumables, from clear NPD briefs to commercial sign off and approval.
- Benchmark and analyze the competitive set to influence key decisions around product design and recipe formulation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop private label products and increase customer participation.
- Work closely with our expert Vet team to ensure all products are Vet-approved.
- Visit suppliers to understand manufacturing capabilities and future roadmap opportunities.
- Manage pre-production trials, first production runs, and ensure products meet our expected standards.
- Attend industry pet trade shows and supplier visits relevant to your portfolio and product roadmaps.
- 5+ years of experience in product development, ideally in pet food or human food, with a focus on developing innovative products across food or non-food categories.
- Bachelor's degree in food science, animal nutrition, or a related discipline.
- Experience working through a stage and gate process from concept to launch.
- Creative flair and a passion for product development to exceed customer expectations.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and supplier processes.
- Experience taking projects from idea generation to sample submission and through to 'scale up' and launch.
- Commercial acumen to enable commerciality within product development.
- Fast-paced and detail-oriented with excellent accuracy.
- Strong team player and influencer with effective communication skills.
- A focus on your development, with opportunities for learning, stretch projects, focus groups, secondments, and internal mobility.
