The role of Merchandise Planner is a key position within the retail industry, requiring an individual with exceptional analytical and forecasting skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing merchandise budgets, forecasts, and option assortment plans to effectively trade the business across all channels.

The ideal candidate will possess strong numerical and analytical skills, with experience in merchandise planning and relevant tools such as Retek or D365. A tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, or Business is essential, along with commercial acumen and an understanding of market trends and store demands.

Key responsibilities include preparing and managing merchandise plans by region, conducting monthly forecast reviews, and updating sales, stocks, markdowns, margin, and gross profit. Additionally, the role involves managing OTB (Open-to-Buy) at class, category, and option levels, performing closing stock analysis, and attending monthly buys to provide plans for OTB, options needed, and quantification.

Strong communication and teamwork skills are also essential, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth stock allocation to stores and meet advertising needs across all locations.

  • Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure smooth stock allocation to stores

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in merchandise planning
  • Prior experience with relevant planning tools
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, or Business
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of market trends and store demands
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
