About the Role
Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Onboard Project Engineer to join our team in Brisbane, Australia. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing the engineering processes for Onboard railway systems, including ETCS, CBTC, and ATO projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the identification, management, and fulfilment of system and functional requirements for the entire life cycle of the project.
- Evaluate system architecture and requirement compliance, and ensure overall SRS management and ownership.
- Liaise with the global Hitachi Rail delivery team, specifically at our centres of excellence in ATO and ETCS in Japan and Italy.
- Manage interfaces between customers, partners, and suppliers, acting as the single point of contact for all technical queries.
- Ensure all activities are conducted with due regard to a high level of continuous improvement and safety.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the rail industry, with a focus on rolling stock and engineering.
- Technical knowledge and experience on major railway subsystems, including ETCS/Signalling, ATO, Railway Communication, Electrification, Power Supply, and Rolling Stock.
- Experience in technical engineering and interface management, as well as professional experience in requirements management, including verification and validation, RAM, Safety, operational aspects, testing, and commissioning.
- University degree in engineering, preferably in electrical, system, mechatronic, or software engineering.
- Initiative-taking, with excellent leadership, organisational, communication, and people skills.
- Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
