This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to world-leading sustainability research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on developing high-efficiency, zero-waste plant systems.

We are revolutionising how we grow plants in extreme environments—from deep space to Earth's most challenging conditions. Our research focuses on developing advanced fertilisers that support long-duration space missions and future food systems on Earth.

The project involves the development of flow chemistry-based extraction methods for plasma bubble-reactors and the synthesis of core-shell bio-mineral fertilisers using leached regolith minerals. Advanced flow chemistry schemes will be explored, including sheath flow, to produce fertilisers with targeted molecules.

Candidates should have past expertise and relevant knowledge in the following research fields:

  • Chemical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education/training
  • Plasma processing and its applications in agriculture
  • Flow chemistry and its applications in chemical synthesis
  • Plant growth engineering and its applications in sustainable agriculture

Desirable skills include working knowledge of Gas-liquid plasmas, key analytics such as OES, HPLC, SEM, and plant growth characterisation.
