At Virgin Australia, we're on a mission to make flying better than nice by hiring talented individuals who are passionate about customer experience and safety. Our Brisbane Hangar-based Avionics and IFE team is seeking an experienced Avionics Engineer to join us on a permanent full-time basis.

This role involves maintaining continuing airworthiness through effective configuration control of aircraft software, avionics, and electrical systems for our operated fleet types. You'll also assist in initiating preventative or predictive maintenance strategies to improve aircraft technical dispatch reliability.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A genuine passion for aviation and a desire to be part of a diverse team
  • An Aviation Engineering Qualification – Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering or equivalent, having held an Aircraft Engineering License, or relevant Aircraft Maintenance Engineer within the Avionics discipline
  • Advanced computer and data analysis skills
  • 5 years' relevant work experience with at least 2 years working in either an airline technical services, support role or aircraft maintenance in an avionics-based discipline, working with aircraft that are the same, or of a similar type, as the aircraft type operated by us
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulations and standards applicable to aircraft maintenance programs and reliability programs; regular maintenance requirements included in the instruction for continuing airworthiness for the aircraft; specifications and standards used by the type certificate holder to develop regular maintenance requirements for the aircraft; aircraft certification basis; TRAX – the Engineering Maintenance System that we use
