About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team at Westpac. As a key member of our cloud engineering team, you will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of technical solutions on the public cloud.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Build Azure Services: You will design, build, and automate Azure Services with a focus on security, compliance, and cost optimization using Terraform for Enterprise consumption.
  • Contribute to Cloud Platform Improvement: You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of the bank's Azure platform, its patterns, and tools.
  • Engage with Customers and Stakeholders: You will engage with customers, gather requirements, and plan/schedule deliveries.
  • Diagnose and Resolve Complex Issues: You will diagnose and resolve complex service issues across infrastructure and applications.
  • Ensure Compliance and Security: You will ensure end-to-end compliance, security, and pattern automation best practices.
  • Provide Expert Input: You will provide expert input on capacity planning, performance monitoring, and tuning for cloud platform stability.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: You will liaise with stakeholders and suppliers, fostering a collaborative 'one team' mindset.
  • Stay Current with Industry Trends: You will stay current on industry and technical trends to evaluate and recommend improvements to Azure offerings and automation.
  • Apply Agile Frameworks: You will apply Agile frameworks and techniques to deliver business value.
Requirements
  • Broad Experience in Azure Technologies: You will have a broad experience in many Azure technologies and the proven ability to dive deep into any on an as-needed basis.
  • Expert Experience in IaC: You will have expert experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to create reusable modules for enterprise consumption across the bank.
  • DevOps Automation Tools: You will have experience in one or more DevOps automation tools including BitBucket, Jira, Azure DevOps, and Jenkins.
  • Scripting and Development Skills: You will have proficiency in scripting and development (Bash/Shell, Ruby, JSON, Python, NodeJS, JavaScript).
  • CI/CD Pipelines: You will have experience in developing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Artifactory).
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: You will have troubleshooting expertise in Azure technologies.
  • Strong Communication Skills: You will have strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Agile Methodologies: You will have experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Azure Cloud Certifications: You will have Azure cloud certifications highly regarded.
