Secure the Open-Source Ecosystem as a Senior Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced and passionate senior engineering manager to lead our security engineering team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust security measures to protect the open-source ecosystem.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development, including expertise in support and maintenance, and a solid understanding of Linux distributions. You will also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team of engineers.

  • Job Description:
    • Lead and develop a team of engineers to respond to emerging threats and secure the open source ecosystem.
    • Provide technical guidance on vulnerability remediation and drive the development of new security engineering projects.
    • Work with upstream open source projects on vulnerability lifecycle handling and coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to team members.
    • Identify and measure team health indicators, implement disciplined engineering processes, and represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
    • Develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices, plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects, and collaborate with other leaders in the security engineering leadership team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of leadership and technical expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team of engineers.
  • A solid understanding of Linux distributions and expertise in support and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, C, Python, and knowledge of software and application security.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment and a demonstrated drive for continual learning.
