Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical practitioner to fill the position of BASIC TRAINEE. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the wards, including daily ward rounds. They will also attend specialist and registrar ward rounds, record decisions made in the medical history, and respond to calls from the patient's care team in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate will have general or unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia and a minimum of 4 years' relevant postgraduate experience. They will be able to accurately record drugs and treatment, check and sign result sheets for investigations, and undertake procedures as required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as the successful candidate will need to interact with families or carers of hospital patients and provide clear and concise information about patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Care of patients in the wards, including daily ward rounds.
  • Attend Specialist and Registrar ward rounds and record decisions made in the medical history.
  • Respond to calls from the patient's care team in a timely manner.
  • Ensure consultations occur when requested.
  • Interact with families or carers of hospital patients.
  • Accurately record drugs and treatment.
  • Check and sign result sheets for investigations.
  • Undertake procedures as required.
Requirements
  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
